General Information
Gross National Golf Course was constructed in 1925 and is one of seven golf facilities owned and operated by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The course has a long and prestigious history including hosting the 1964 USGA National Publinks Championship. It has also hosted such noted players as Walter Hagen, Les Bolstad and Steve Opperman. In 2002 the MPRB received a grant from the First Tee program to encourage participation by area youth. The project included an eighteen station irons-only practice range with four target greens, a three station private practice tee and at the expansion of the existing parking lot.
Project Profile
Herfort Norby was responsible for the design and management of all aspects of the project. Services included preparation of detailed plans and specifications, solicitation of competitive bids, construction observation and approval of pay requests. Project construction began on August 4, 2003 and was completed on September 23, 2003.
