General Information

Greenhaven Golf Course is an eighteen hole public facility owned and operated by the City of Anoka, Minnesota. The original nine holes at Greenhaven were built in 1955 with a second nine built in approximately1984. The course logs an average of 35,000 rounds per year and like many older courses its greens, tees and bunkers had become difficult to maintain. When the City decided to undertake a major renovation of the back nine they retained Herfort Norby Golf Course Architects. The City’s goals included improved playability, improved safety, a reduction in regular maintenance operations and expansion of existing cart paths.

Project Profile

Herfort Norby prepared a long-range master plan indicating the location for proposed green, tee and sand bunker improvements on the back nine. Responsibilities included preparation of detailed construction documents, coordinating the public bidding process and construction administrations services. Phase one improvements included the reconstruction of three tee complexes, new cart paths and the reconstruction of six greens with irrigation. Construction began in the July of 2002 and was opened for play in May of 2003.
